The wireless transmission took place from Poldhu (Cornwall, UK) to Saint John&#8217;s (on the island of Newfoundland, Canada).<\/p>\n<p>The transmission of radio waves across the ocean was not &#8211; at the time &#8211; thought possible due to the earth&#8217;s curvature; this was the thesis supported by the scientists of that period. But Guglielmo Marconi managed to prove the groundlessness of those theories.<\/p>\n<p>Activity will ONLY be on CW on various HF bands.<\/p>\n<p>A special award is available (in PDF format); for details see QRZ.com.
