NASA&#8217;s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the explosion from southern sunspot AR3078:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.spaceweather.com\/images2022\/15aug22\/mflare_teal_crop_strip_opt.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"239\" \/><figcaption> The explosion from southern sunspot AR3078<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A\u00a0pulse of X-rays from the flare caused a minor radio blackout over the Atlantic Ocean:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spaceweather.com\/images2022\/15aug22\/minorblackout.jpg\">blackout map<\/a>. Frequencies below 15 MHz were affected for less than an hour around 1500 UT.
