Minutes of Summerside Amateur Radio Club Inc.
General Meeting
April 12, 2006
The President, VY2WRV, called the general meeting to order at 8:15 p.m.
with 17 members and 1 guest
present: VY2FF, VE1MTH, VE1EP, VY2DRS,
Mary, VY2GIB, VY2WRV, VY2CGA, VY2GM, VE1ANS, VY2DS, VY2RU, VE1PEI, VY2WA,
VY2RR, Lorna and Maria with special guest Cindy MacDougall.
The minutes of the last meeting were read. Moved by Ken VY2RU
and seconded by Dave VY2DRS to approve the minutes as read. All in
favor. Motion carried.
Business arising from the
minutes: No Update.
Correspondence: Received a letter from the CNIB requesting support for this year’s
campaign. Moved by Ken VY2RU and
seconded by Gord VE1EO to donate $50.00 to the CNIB. All in favour. Carried.
Committee Reports:
Treasurer’s
Report: No Update.
Repeater/Technical: We do not
have to remove the antennas off the water tower during painting. Aliant is moving the paging equipment. Ken VY2RU is unsure if Aliant will be removing their antenna or
not as they were also told to remove for painting.
City of Summerside Emergency Measures: No Update.
Added Agenda:
Bus Update: No Update.
Clubhouse:
The dual band antenna has been
installed on the roof of the clubhouse with a short run or RG-213 coax. The rotor cable was installed but the rotor
is not working as the brake will not release.
Call Plates:
The Charlottetown club is not
interested in pursing a joint venture to cover the cost of redesigning the PEI
Call Plate. It was mentioned to write a
letter of the Minister of Transportation to have the fees waived for the public
service that the Amateur operators provide.
New Business:
Emergency Plan: Dave VY2DRS will be attending
a Basic Emergency Management Course to be held in Charlottetown on March 14, 15,
16. The course cost of $50.00 will be
returned since we are a volunteer organization. Moved by Bill
VY2FF and seconded by Adam VY2AA to allocate the $50.00 refund to Dave for
travel expenses to the course. All in Favor. Carried.
Field Day:
Douglas will work to procure
food supplies for field day. Bill
VY2FF will contact Belmont Park to make our reservation.
Membship Chair: Moved by Gib VY2GIB and seconded by Douglas
VY2DS to appoint Gord VE1EO as the membership chairperson. All in
favour. Carried. All renewals for memberships are to be
directed to Gord. Also the old inactive
names will be removed from the membership list.
Moved by Dave VY2DRS and seconded by Ken VY2RU. Meeting
adjourned at 8:40 pm.
George VY2GM and Cindy MacDougall gave presentations after the meeting
with regards to emergency measures with the provincial government of Prince
