General Meeting

 

April 13, 2005

 

The President, VY2WRV, called the general meeting to order at 8:25 p.m. with 20 members present: VY2DON, VY2ZZ, VY2AA, VY2WA, VY2DS, VE9JK, VE9DI, VE1E), VY2EUV, VY2WRV, VY2CGA, VY2DRS, Mary, VE1MTH, VY2RU, Lorna, VY2DG, VY2AG, Marie and VY2PEI

 

The minutes of the last meeting were read.  Moved by Bob VY2ZZ and seconded by Dave VY2DRS to approve the minutes as read.  All in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Business arising from the minutes:  It has been discovered since that the coaxial cable running up the stacks is not heliax but an RG-8 or RG-213 grade.

 

Correspondence:  None

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Yvan VY2EUV presented an updated treasurer’s report as of March 31, 2005 to all those in attendance.  Moved by Ken VY2RU and seconded by Wayne VY2WA to approve report.  All in favor. Motion carried.

 

Committee Reports:

Repeater/Technical: The crystals have been installed into the mitrex but will need to be tuned.  The equipment has been mounted in a case but everything needs to be wired.  The 6-metre repeater is acting up and is presently down.  Ken VY2RU and Rob VY2ROB will hope to look at over the weekend. 

 

City of Summerside Emergency Measures: None

 

Added Agenda:

Bus Update:  No Update.

 

Website:  A new “lunch @ the Fox” page has been added.

 

Clubhouse:  With regards to towers, the City is looking to let us erect antennas on the roof of the power plant.  There are a few good locations on the roof and it will give us additional height.   Members were advised to keep their eyes and ears open for a large power supply (35+ Amps) for use at the clubhouse.

 

Field Day: Will be held the June 25/26 weekend. No additional update.

 

New Business:

Examinations: Our accredited examiners developed a draft examination policy.  The points of the policy were discussed in depth and a new policy drafted.  Moved by Dave VY2DRS and seconded by Adam VY2AA to approve and to adopt the new examination policy.  All in favor.  Motion Carried.

 

Extra Tower:  It was Moved by Wayne VY2WA and seconded by Bob VY2ZZ to donate the approach light tower to Jamie Ramsay VY2JR in appreciation for his contribution to the club (i.e. Climbing).  All in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Bill Sargent:  Bill Sargent’s wife Kaye graciously donated Bill’s radio collection to the club.  A thank you letter will be sent to her for the wonderful donation.  

 

Handheld:  Don VE1ANZ and Gerene Craig VE1BCB have donated an IC-2AT handheld to the club with stipulations that it be given to a new ham.  Ken Hippenstall VY2KEN will be the lucky recipient.

 

Flea Market:  The flea market was brought up but wanted to consult with the Charlottetown club before any decision was made.

 

Moved by Adam VY2AA and seconded by Mike VE1MTH to Adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 9:12 pm.
