General Meeting

 

April 14, 2004

 

The President, VY2FF, called the general meeting to order at 8:12 p.m. with 22 members present: VY2GD, VE1E0, Marie, VY2ROC, VY2TC, VY2FF, VY2RR, VY2WA, VY2GIB, Maria, VY2DH, Bernadette, VE1MTH, VE1CM, VY2CGA, Lorna, Megan, VE1PEI, VY2RU, VY2OO, VY2RG, VY2EUV.

 

The minutes of the last meeting were read.  Moved by Steve VY2DH and seconded by Yvan VY2EUV to approve minutes.  All in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Business arising from minutes: There was no update on stickers for the Abegweit Award. 

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Yvan VY2EUV presented an updated treasurer’s report as of March 31, 2004 to all in attendance.  Moved by Yvan VY2EUV and seconded by VE1MTH to approve report.  All in favor. Motion carried.

 

Correspondence:  The club received a letter from the CNIB requesting a donation.  Moved by Gib VY2GIB and seconded by John VE1CM to donate $50.00 to the CNIB.  All in favor. Motion carried.

 

Committee Reports:

Repeater/Technical:  The six-meter repeater will consist of a 45-watt mobile micro using O’Leary’s old controller.  The crystals have been ordered and the callsign VY2SIX has also been requested.  The packet radio still needs to be reprogrammed.

 

City of Summerside Emergency Measures:  No report.

 

Added Agenda:

Bus Update:  Richard VY2WRV and Clare VY2CK will help with the painting of the bus and the painting will be done in stages:

 

Flea Market Update:  There will be 14 tables available at the flea market. Bill has been getting good responses from Charlottetown over the flea market.  Rodney has approached Durham, Radioworld, Elkel, Mapleleaf, ALQ and MacFarlane for attendance and sponsorship and awaiting a response.

 

Abegweit Award Update:  Bob VY2RG has redesigned the Abegweit award to a standard sign that will fit properly into a frame.

 

RAC Update:  The members agreed to have the RAC logo and links added back to the website after being removed.  Moved by Ken VY2RU and seconded by Gord VE1EO to add the AIDRAC logo and links onto the club’s website.  1 against. Motion carried.  Rodney has not received any response from the letter that the club emailed and register mailed.

 

New Business:

Industry Canada:  The O’Leary repeater’s callsign VY2CFB is in Lloyd’s name.  A letter will be drafted to send to Industry Canada to transfer Trustee to Gord Beaman VE1EO.

 

Air Cadets:  The Air Cadets will be training on May 14,15,16.  Steve VY2DH asked if any club members would be able set up an HF radio station in the field with a generator.  Many members said that they would be able to in the evening after returning from the Halifax flea market.

 

Moved by Ella VE1EO and seconded by Mike VE1MTH to Adjourn.  Meeting adjourned.
