Minutes of Summerside Amateur Radio Club Inc.

General Meeting

 

February 11, 2004

 

Meeting was called to order at 8.20 PM. with 21 members present.

 

Present were:

VE1PEI, VY2LN, VY2CC, VY2RU, VY2WA, VY2ROC, VY2CK, VE1CM, VY2EFA & Claudette, VY2DRS & Mary, VE1EO & Marie, VY2RG, VY2WRV, VY2GIB & Maria, VY2FF, VY2RR and VY2TC.

 

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Bill, moved that the minutes be adopted as read by Ella, seconded by Wayne. All in favor. Motion carried.

 

Business arising from the Minutes:

Thanks to Gib for a job well done (Christmas dinner-meeting)

Gib reports that a new Maritimes call book will be avail. at Hfx flea Mkt.

Gib looking after our changes this year.

Treasurers Report: VY2EUV absent, no report.

 

New Business:

 

Industry Canada reports several new rules promulgated re Amateur license grades, exams, grandfather clause etc, read TCA for further.

 

Letter to be drafted and sent re club dues etc.

 

Wayne enquired about a tour of the Coast Guard Station in S’Side.  Dave (being our Coast Guard expert) noted that the station is shut down for the winter but will check on it this spring and try to arrange a tour for us.

 

Several guys on packet have enquired about getting VY2TNC moved to 145.01 so as to have connectivity into the Marcan Network through Ron’s system. Ken has enquired of Ron (VE1AIC) about adding vy2tnc to the system…more later.

 

Moved by Gib and seconded by Ken to purchase the ‘domain name ‘sparc.ca’ for 3 years for $90.00 USD. Wendell and Bill to action. All in favor. Motion carried.

 

Ken proposed that all members be available for emergency measures operation for the City of Summerside in case of emergency.

 

The club sends a vote of thanks to the membership for the turnout at Lloyd’s wake. 35 members turned out.

 

VY2WRV Richard has volunteered to look after the Call Plates. He informs us that plates are $20 and orders can be submitted every 19th of the month. Waiting period about 2 weeks

 

Club is thinking about a flea market this year. Suggesting holding it in Charlottetown.  Possible venues are Rodd’s (near confusion corner) or possibly the old airport terminal.  Bill Perry to canvass and report at swill soon.

 

Abegweit Award being handled by Ivan vy2euv, Ken to give corrected one to him.

 

Richard to pick up club mail weekly at police station, 270 Foundry St

 

A Tour of City Hall was suggested…Ken will correlate.
