Minutes of Summerside Amateur Radio Club Inc.

General Meeting

 

November 10, 2004

 

The President, VY2WRV, called the general meeting to order at 7:50 p.m. with 7 members present: VY2CGA, VY2EUV, VY2WA, VE1CM, VY2WRV, VE1EO, and VY2RG

 

The minutes of the last meeting were read.  Moved by John VE1CM and seconded by Gord VE1EO to approve the minutes as read.  All in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Business arising from minutes:  Bill Sargent’s VY2BIJ tower was taken down and is presently stored at Ken’s VY2RU QTH.  The Club offered its services to the Summerside City Police for Halloween, but they were not required.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Yvan VY2EUV presented an updated treasurer’s report as of November 01, 2004 to all in attendance.  Moved by Yvan VY2EUV and seconded by Wayne VY2WA to approve report.  All in favor. Motion carried.

 

Correspondence:  Received a thank you letter and a donation of $75.00 from the Town of Kensington for the club’s involvement with the Harvest Festival Parade.

 

Committee Reports:

Repeater/Technical:  No Report

 

City of Summerside Emergency Measures: Wayne VY2WA tried to contact Greg Gaudet with no success.  He visited the office and tested the base radio.  Wayne VY2WA also received mobile radio and whip antennas from Wendell VY2CC.  Mobile Radios: Wayne – 1 and City Hall – 1.  The batteries for the portables are not lasting.  The club will price out new batteries and cigarette lighter charges to submit to the City for approval. 

 

Added Agenda:

Bus Update:  None.

 

Abegweit Award Update: The bank account has been found and Richard VY2WRV and Yvan VY2EUV are now signing officers.  Moved by Gord VE1EO and seconded by John VE1CM to have our President Richard VY2WRV contact Charlottetown’s club President Bill Perry VY2BP to discuss the future of the Abegweit Award.  All in favor.  Motioned carried.

 

New Business:

Website:  There was discussions regarding the updating of the website.  Rodney VY2CGA shall contact Wendell VY2CC to discuss the website.

 

EchoLink:  Some members have expressed concerns about the possibility of having EchoLink running locally again.  Wendell VY2CC has antenna limitations at his new QTH.  Rodney VY2CGA will look at the possibility of hosting an EchoLink node.

 

X-Mas Dinner:  The Christmas dinner was discussed.  Wayne VY2WA will contact Gib VY2GIB about the possibility of again preparing the Christmas meal.  Will get back later with details.

 

Moved by Bob VY2RG and seconded by Wayne VY2WA to Adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 9:24 pm.
