General Meeting

 

October 13, 2004

 

The President, VY2WRV, called the general meeting to order at 8:04 p.m. with 14 members present: VY2CGA, VY2FF, VY2EUV, VY2WA, VY2AA, VY2ROC, VY2RU, VY2GIB, VY2CK, VY2GD, VE1CM, VY2WRV, VY2EFA, and Claudette.

 

The minutes of the last meeting were read.  Moved by Wayne VY2WA and seconded by Adam VY2AA to approve the minutes as read.  All in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Business arising from minutes:  The corn boil at Nature Fest went over well considering the wet weather.  Fifteen dozen corn were served.   The two towers have not been picked up; will try over the next couple of weeks.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Yvan VY2EUV presented an updated treasurer’s report as of October 01, 2004 to all those in attendance.  Moved by Bill VY2FF and seconded by Clare VY2CK to approve report.  All in favor. Motion carried.

 

Correspondence:  Received a thank-you card from the City of Summerside for our participation in Nature Fest.  Bill Sargent VY2BIJ has been admitted to the hospital.  Received a thank-you letter from the CNIB for our $50.00 donation.  Bill VY2FF welcomed the new executive.  Richard VY2WRV thanked Bill VY2FF for all his work as president and the past years executive for their work.

 

Committee Reports:

Repeater/Technical:  The Echolink node on the Sugarloaf repeater requires a 9-prefix before the node.  VY2TNC is now working.  There was a problem with the computer.  Brad VE1ZX and Rick VE9RWS were over to do antenna work at the 6-metre repeater site.  A UHF machine was also installed in the site.  Moved by Gib VY2GIB and seconded by Real VY2ROC to approve $50.00 for Rick and Brad to cover their travel expenses.  All in favor. Motioned carried.

 

City of Summerside Emergency Measures:  John VE1CM and Wayne VY2WA have been charging the units.  Radio count as follows:  John – 1, Wayne – 1, City Hall – 1, Wendell – 1.  John also mentioned the possibility of having a mock drill with the City of Summerside.

 

Added Agenda:

Bus Update:  The bus is still in Bill’s name.

 

Abegweit Award Update: Bill VY2FF was into contact with Elsie VY2OO regarding the Abegweit Award bank account, but nothing further has been done.  Real VY2ROC mentioned that he would follow up with Elsie.

 

RAC Update:  Bill Gillis’ nomination has been turned down.  Moved by Ken VY2RU and seconded by Gerry VY2GD to send an email to Dave Goodwin VO1AU expressing our concern over questionable activities of the RAC Executive during the past months.  All in Favor.  Motion carried.

 

New Business:

Website:  Gib VY2GIB suggested to have the minutes of past meeting on the website for members who are not present at the meetings to know what is happening.  Also perhaps other members may have access to add pictures, change names, etc.

 

Mail: Our mail is not being properly delivered to our address at the police station.

 

Halloween:  John VE1CM suggested that the club assist city police on Halloween.  Wayne VY2WA will check with the police.

 

Moved by Adam VY2AA and seconded by Wayne VY2WA to Adjourn.  Meeting adjourned at 9:22 pm.
