General Meeting

 

September 14, 2005

 

The President, VY2WRV, called the general meeting to order at 7:37 p.m. with 13 members present: VY2CGA, VY2WRV, VY2WA, VY2GD, VE1ANZ, VY2CK, VE1EO, VY2GIB, VE1MTH, VY2AA, VY2DG, VY2RO, VY2FF

 

The minutes of the last meeting were read.  Moved by Adam VY2AA and seconded by Mike VE1MTH to approve the minutes as read.  All in favor.  Motion carried.

 

Business arising from the minutes: The 6-Metre repeater is working again.

 

Correspondence:  None

 

Treasurer’s Report:  None

 

Committee Reports:

Repeater/Technical:  None

 

City of Summerside Emergency Measures: None

 

Added Agenda:

Bus Update:  No Update.

 

Clubhouse:  No Update.

 

Field Day:  Field Day was a success.  The Mayor Basil Stewart did not attend but MLA Phillip Brown attended.  A thank you goes out to all involved with Field Day especially Bill & Carol Elliott for their devotion towards Field Day.

 

Call Plates:  VY2KR had got his call sign reestablished with Industry Canada and was able to order his new plate.  It was also brought up if the words “Amateur Radio” could be added to the Call Plate.  It will be checked out with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

 

Flea Market:  The flea market went over well.  It was again held in Charlottetown with the location in the Hanger at the Flying Association on the Brackley Point Road.  It was a large area and cool.

 

Corn Boil:  The club had a corn boil at the new home of Bill & Carol Elliott.  It was well attended and the corn was excellent.  A big thank you goes out to Bill & Carol for their hospitality for hosting this year’s corn boil.

 

New Business:

Nature Fest:  The City of Summerside inquired about SPARC sponsoring the corn boil again this year.  It was discussed and everyone present agreed to sponsor the corn boil for Nature Fest being held on Sunday, October 02, 2005 at the Rotary Park in Summerside.

 

Christmas Party:  The Lion’s Club in Kensington has been tentatively booked for December 17, 2005 for the Club’s Christmas Party.  Moved by Mike VE1MTH and seconded by Gib VY2GIB that everyone who attends to bring a small child’s toy to be donated to the Lion’s Club Christmas Hamper program.  All in Favour.  Carried.

 

Nominating Committee:  Gib VY2GIB stated that he would work with Ken VY2RU to strike up a Nominating Committee.

 

Club Dues:  It was discussed to send out a renewal notice towards the end of the year to remind all members that their membership expires on December 31.  A delinquency notice should also be sent out for any member who is not current.

 

Examiners:  Our examiner’s status will be expiring at the end of the year.  We are down to three examiners and it would be nice to have a fourth delegate.  Mike VE2MTH volunteered to be the fourth examiner.

 

Moved by Mike VE1MTH and seconded by Wayne VY2WA.  Meeting adjourned at 8:35 pm.
