[RAC-Bulletin] RAC Amateur of the Year Award to be presented on September 11

Don Studney, VE7DS, of the Delta Amateur Radio Society and Keith Witney, VE7KW, of the North Shore Amateur Radio Club will be presented with the RAC Amateur of the Year award on September 11 at a dinner meeting of the ORCA DX and Contest Club at River House Restaurant in Delta, British Columbia.
Radio Amateurs of Canada Director Al Munnik, VA7MP, will make the formal presentation.
The ORCA DX and Contest Club welcomes all visitors but requests that if you decide to attend the dinner, that you forward an email to ORCA’s President at djohnson@davetek.com so that appropriate reservations can be made.

Keith and Don are receiving this award for their work on the VE100VIMY project in which Canadian special event stations were operated across Canada during 2017 and a special event station using call sign TM100VIMY was operated at Vimy Ridge in France during commemorative ceremonies. In total, this project required planning and work over six years. Don and Keith deserve our gratitude for their perseverance and dedication.

Ed Frazer, VE7EF, former RAC Director for the British Columbia / Yukon Region and former Chair of Trustees for the Canadian Amateur Radio Hall of Fame, is assisting with the presentation and will be preparing an article about the presentation for a future issue of The Canadian Amateur.
