At their annual meeting in Moncton on September 14 the RAC executive was made aware of interest in having PEI declared an Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) section separate from the Maritime section.
William Caw (VY2CAW), Brent Taylor (VY2HF) and myself (VY2GF) have discussed the organizational aspects of creating the PE section and William has agreed to assume the role of section manager on an interim basis.
Doug Mercer (VO1DM), RAC Vice President, is the point of contact and has requested a fair cross section of feed back from RAC members resident in PEI. Once this is forthcoming Doug will involve the RAC executive. Creation of the PE section will be complex and requires the endorsement of the RAC executive to proceed.
