[RAC-Bulletin] Former RAC Ontario South Director Geoff Smith, VA3GS SK

Radio Amateurs of Canada has received the sad news that former RAC Ontario South Regional Director Geoff Smith, VA3GS, became a Silent Key on December 4, 2020.
 
Geoff was formerly a Director and Vice-President of the Canadian Amateur Radio Federation (CARF) and was the Ontario South Director for Radio Amateurs of Canada from 2004 to 2009.
 
He was an active member of the York Region Amateur Radio Club (YRARC) for more than 40 years and he held many Executive positions during that period.
 
Professionally, Geoff was a retired high school Chemistry Teacher and Principal. He was for many years the Assistant Head-Master at St Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ontario and, subsequently, the Head Master of King’s Edgehill School in Windsor, Nova Scotia. After retirement he spent several years at Canadian College Italy in Lanciano, Abruzzo.
 
Geoff  was co-author of the Canadian Amateur Radio Basic and Advanced Qualification Study Guides and also taught both certification courses. He was a founding member and Secretary of Coax Publications Inc.
A tribute article to Geoff will be included in an upcoming issue of The Canadian Amateur magazine.
 
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrew’s College in Aurora in the Spring.
