FARSIDE SUNSPOT: There is a sunspot on the farside of the sun so big it is changing the way the sun vibrates. Helioseismic maps reveal its acoustic echo not far behind the sun’s southeastern limb. The sunspot will turn to face Earth a few days from now.

Sunspot AR3068 has a ‘beta-gamma’ magnetic field
that harbors energy for M-class solar flares.
